Mr. Grissom started his own private practice in 1976 when he saw a need for legal services in the area of environmental law, specifically in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Thompson joined the firm in 1990 and brought years of experience working in the administrative agencies of the State. Mr. Thompson was previously employed at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and has years of experience of the administrative rules and regulations governing the oil and gas industry in Texas. This combined experience has allowed the firm to thrive and provide high quality legal services to its clients.
Mr. Grissom was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1976 and was also admitted to practice before U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; U.S. District Court, Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas; U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Emergency Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Travis County Bar Association. Mr. Grissom obtained his B.A. in 1973 from the University of Texas and his J.D. in 1977 from the University of Houston.
Mr. Thompson received his B.A. in 1981 and his J.D. in 1985, both from Louisiana State University. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1986 and was also admitted to practice before U.S. District Court, Southern and Western Districts of Texas. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Travis County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

They have litigated against every major oil company including Exxon USA, Texas Refining & Marketing, Chevron USA, Mobil Oil, Valero Energy; ConocoPhillips; Diamond Shamrock Refining & Marketing and Koch Pipeline.
Grissom & Thompson has successfully prosecuted and defended cases ranging from small claims in justice courts to multimillion-dollar lawsuits before the Supreme Court of Texas, to State and Federal environmental enforcement actions. The firm also has experience handling class-action lawsuits and other multi-party claims.
